Nutmeg Auto Aid is committed to supporting regional food banks and pantry networks across Connecticut. We facilitate the donation of vehicles that directly fund essential food distribution operations, helping to combat food insecurity in our communities. Your contribution provides critical resources to food banks that strive to meet the increasing demand for meals.
With every vehicle donation, we maximize the impact of your dollar through a well-established network of partner food banks. Funds generated through vehicle auctions support vital logistics and programs, such as mobile food pantries and SNAP outreach initiatives, ensuring that every dollar is leveraged to deliver not just food, but hope to families in need.

↗Real impact, real numbers
Your generous vehicle donation can have a profound impact on food security in Connecticut. For example, a $1,500 vehicle can provide 15,000 meals to families through partner food banks, while a $2,500 vehicle equates to 25,000 meals. The efficiency of our distribution network ensures that the funds generated from vehicle sales translate directly into meals, making every dollar work harder for those facing hunger.
Scaling further, a $5,000 vehicle donation can facilitate a staggering 50,000 meals. By donating your vehicle, you’re not just giving; you’re creating a direct line of nourishment and support for your community.
How we vet recipient partners
Nutmeg Auto Aid is dedicated to partnering with reputable food banks and pantry networks that uphold the highest standards of accountability. We prefer partners that are part of the Feeding America network, ensuring they adhere to rigorous quality controls. All partners are Charity Navigator 4-star rated and maintain overhead costs of less than 10%. Additionally, we require a Form 990 that reflects a 90% or more program ratio, confirming a commitment to efficient, lean operations that maximize donor impact.
How proceeds flow
After towing and processing costs, we ensure that approximately 70-80% of gross auction proceeds are directed to our partner food banks. These funds are then allocated based on each food bank’s program ratio, ensuring that your vehicle donation is transformed into tangible resources for food distribution, outreach programs, and other critical services in our community.
Connecticut recipient landscape
In Connecticut, food insecurity remains a pressing issue, exacerbated by economic challenges and demographic shifts. Our regional food banks are working tirelessly to address these needs, but they rely heavily on community support to maintain operations. By donating your vehicle, you're playing a crucial role in local programs such as senior meals and backpack initiatives for children, ensuring that every corner of our community receives the support it needs.
